When I designed this I wanted to figure how much pathetic anxiety I could jam pack into a character, and still have it function outside its primary environment. To do this I used the natural spiky shapes of tentacles to create a frazzled look combined with blocky angles to keep it from looking to relaxed, I wanted the face to carry a lot of that depression so I used a soft curve only on the bottom of the jaw so that whatever expression is used is exaggerated through the entire face. Then I studied other anxious characters and went with a tall slender build, with legs that an animator could have fun with adding the anxiety to the walk cycle. The arms are probably the most intricate part of this rig, they can function on curves for noodle movement or on hard corners for elbows.
